【案例】
男子潘孟辰因腦瘤至台中榮總由主治醫師沈炯棋開刀治療，醫師為潘男植入楆椎引流管，接著停止給予抗生素，後來潘男反應尾骶骨有一點痠痛感，醫師為潘男拔除引流管，下午潘男即出現發燒感染症狀，後因中樞神經感染導致心神喪失，呈近乎植物人狀態。家屬控告醫師未於7日內拔除患者楆椎引流管重新置換，又提早停止抗生素治療，才害潘男感染，請求賠償醫療、看護費及精神慰撫金等共800餘萬元。 報導╱許淑惠

【偵查】
台中地院依醫審會3次鑑定，認為醫師以一般預防性抗生素，無法對造成中樞神經感染的細菌生效，但因無法判斷患者中樞神經系統感染源，縱使持續給予抗生素治療，也無法避免患者中樞神經系統感染，故判決醫院和醫師勝訴免賠。可上訴。

【照護腦瘤患者須知】
★進食採半坐臥或坐姿，進食後應維持姿勢30分鐘，避免嘔吐或吸入性肺炎。
★有運動失調、視力障礙、平衡及協調功能喪失者，應避免跌倒、燙傷等意外。
★病人若併發癲癇，應速尋求支援並保護患者頭部、取出口腔異物，30分鐘內發作3次應即送醫。
★意識不清病人若放置鼻胃管、導尿管或氣切管，應定期更換並注意導管功能。
