老男禁慾保精？醫：反而加速精子老化

俗諺有句話說「精盡而亡」，是指男人過度性放縱，造成身老力衰，因此也有種「禁慾保精」的說法。不過，泌尿科醫師反駁表示，「禁慾保精」容易加速人體衰老一說並無科學根據，原因是精子需要新陳代謝才能維持品質，而且適度的性行為和陰莖勃起有利於提高男性生殖器的供養量，讓身體正常運作，延緩老化。
簡邦平醫師表示，男性如果長期禁慾，不僅無法保存精子品質，反而會使精子加速老化。
台灣男性學醫學會理事長簡邦平醫師表示，傳統「禁慾保精」的說法，可能源自於道教的禁慾教義，認為男性精子相當珍貴，必須予以保存，且嚴禁性行為。不過，禁慾不僅是壓抑人類的性本能，也破壞機能的平衡，反而容易給人帶來傷害。
無論是年輕人或老年人，男性的精子都需要適度排空、新陳代謝，才能保持良好的品質。如果長期禁慾，不僅容易使精子老化，品質下降，甚至會因組織的「吸收作用」，使精子量逐漸減少。
簡邦平醫師表示，依據個人情況不同，通常男性在一次射精後24至48小時內，即可自動補充新鮮又品質優良的精子，如果老年人可以正常維持性行為，精子將可源源不絕地供應，保持性激素正常分泌。另外，性行為就像運動一樣，可以增強身體活動力，尤其陰莖勃起後，供養量也會提高，有助於血液循環和新陳代謝，延緩老化。
