〔記者余雪蘭／嘉市報導〕「我有個小孩」，32歲未婚的曾建儒，當別人想替他介紹女友，總是語出驚人，接著說︰「他是我哥哥，多重障礙，不會講話，大小便要人協助」；對方一聽，就打了退堂鼓，眼看青春歲月就要蹉跎而過，他卻安然笑說：「只要比哥哥多活一天就滿足！」

交不到女友 他無怨尤

曾建儒在雙親病逝後，獨自照顧重度心智障礙的大哥，37歲的阿凱不會講話，生活無法自理，以前由媽媽照顧，7年前媽媽罹癌，曾建儒開始協助照顧，母親臨終前一句「媽對不起你」，更讓他毫無怨言扛下這個重任。

曾建儒有一名哥哥，已成家立業，他認為若要兄弟平均分攤照顧之責，兩人都會犧牲，決定自己扛下，白天上班時，把大哥送到嘉愛啟智中心日間托顧，下班再接回來。

假日嘉愛啟智中心放假，他就全天照顧，阿凱生活無法自理，他不敢把哥哥單獨留在家裡，出外訪友、辦事時，總是把他帶在身邊，引來外人異樣眼光，但他不以為意，甚至主動向人介紹：「他是我哥哥」。

護哥護到底 盼多活他一天

曾建儒工作以外的時間都給了大哥，畢業於中國醫藥大學公衛系的他，面對這個沈重擔子，有時忍不住大哭，但很快就自我調整，對自己說：「你不能逃避，因為他是你哥哥」。

嘉愛啟智中心董事長洪界速表示，「比孩子多活一天」是心智障礙者家長放不下孩子的心語，嘉愛新建家園即將落成，日後將收容像阿凱這樣需要全天候照顧的人，屆時建儒可望卸下重擔，重拾他的人生。
