根據一項調查顯示，有6成國人因為生活過度忙碌無法兼顧健康，近5成的人會等到身體出問題才找醫師，定期做健康檢查比例不到兩成。事實上，根據衛生署過去調查也發現，8成國人營養攝取不均。專家建議，正確飲食與良好運動習慣，以及充足睡眠，才能活出健康。

這項「國人的健康意識與態度」調查，是中山醫學大學等單位針對大台北、大台中、大高雄的15到64歲民眾進行，有效樣本605份。

調查發現，國人健康意識不足，而且在採取健康行動上，男女也大不同，男人生病會吃藥看病比例比女人低一成三，願意多吃蔬果的女人比男人多18％，但提到運動習慣，女人興趣缺缺，比男人低一成七。有趣的是，女人關心健康與愛美有關。

中山醫學大學副校長王進崑教授指出，現代人健康最大的隱憂，以不當飲食最嚴重，而醫學研究證實，正確飲食可改善一半以上的健康問題，良好運動習慣可再提升30％；足夠優質睡眠可提升20％。因此他提出「五一六八新生活運動」，建議每日五色蔬果、每日一萬步、六大類食物均衡攝取、八小時睡眠。

營養師林秀芬表示，所謂「每日五蔬果」，除了份量夠，還得要種類、顏色夠，進一步做到「彩虹攝取原則」，也就是必須均衡攝取足夠的五色，包括紅、橙黃、綠、藍紫、白色等。

以蘋果來說，不要以為它是紅色，事實上是屬於「白色」，蘆筍、花椰菜則是「綠色」，柑橘、葡萄柚是「橘黃色」，石榴、葡萄則是「藍紫色」，番茄、蔓越莓則屬於「紅色」。

林秀芬指出，不少人喜歡在飯後喝茶、喝咖啡，但會影響營養吸收。以鐵來說，如果在餐後喝茶，會降低該餐中吸收率達85％，喝咖啡則會降低4成，最好還是餐後一小時再喝茶或咖啡；不過，如能在餐後吃水果，反而幫助鐵與鋅的吸收。

她也認為，現代人每日飲食多樣化，但一不注意，營養素容易在不知不覺中流失，最好能補充同時擁有維生素、礦物質與植物營養素的綜合營養補充品，為健康打底。
