貓熊糞便有功用 可觀察健康與再製加工

珍稀貓熊系列5（中央社記者郭美瑜台北23日電）貓熊吃下肚的竹子有3/4被排泄而出，台北市立動物園表示，貓熊糞便可觀察獸體健康狀況，若糞便不成形，表示健康有異，也有飼養貓熊的動物園將貓熊糞便開發成商品販售。


動物園指出，貓熊的主食有99%是竹子，不論竹葉、竹莖、竹桿都吃，不過，貓熊是食肉目動物，消化道短，易患消化道問題，加上愛吃的竹子富含纖維質易消化，很快就排出體外。


動物園說，貓熊吃下肚的竹葉與竹桿無法完全消化，排泄物多為纖維；若竹葉吃得多，糞便的顏色偏綠，若竹桿吃得多，糞便的顏色偏黃。


動物園獸醫室主任張智華說，貓熊的糞便如手掌般大小，約15公分長，一般來說是硬塊，一次便便數顆，一天須多次排便，若不成形，表示身體健康有異。


動物園指出，貓熊的糞便若出現白色黏稠狀，顯示消化道可能有問題，必須減少食量、多喝水，或打點滴維持健康。


由於貓熊的糞便富含纖維質，泰國清邁、中國大陸成都、香港等飼養貓熊的動物園都將貓熊糞便「再利用」，用於製紙或工藝品製作。


至於台灣的業者是否也可比照跟進？北市動物園長葉傑生僅表示，「業者都很聰明」，但他強調未來在園內販售的貓熊周邊商品，業者須提案經審查通過才准許入園販賣，販售金額的部分比例將做為專款專用的保育基金。971223
