新北市一名91歲饒姓老翁，日前到永和郵局旁使用自動提款機，因提款機置於離地15公分高的平台上架高，老翁領完錢後退時，不小心踩空摔倒，後腦著地，送醫不治。家屬14日重回事發現場，質疑郵局提款機設置不當，「如果沒有那個小平台，或許父親就不會摔死」。

據了解，永和郵局提款機的架高平台事8、9年前所蓋，因為郵局地板比路面高，因此才做小平台方便民眾提款。

板橋地檢署相驗認定老翁是意外死亡。據《聯合報》報導，中華郵政總經理王昌表示，監視器畫面顯示老翁提款後突然往後倒，疑似有心臟問題，是否與提款機前平台有關仍需進一步確認。

老翁的兒子說，父親身體硬朗，每周都與山友一起爬山，認為父親死亡與郵局設施不當有關，已到警局控告永和郵局人員涉嫌業務過失致死。他也說，「看到三、四個路人跨過我爸身體繼續走，實在很心痛！」
