（中央社記者郭傳信新德里二日專電）印度西部拉吉斯坦省現年七十四歲老翁查蘭，今年是連續第三十八年參加高中畢業考試，但今天成績揭曉，依然是「不及格」，使得查蘭在年輕時為自己立下「不及格就不結婚」的誓言，也依然保持不破。


　　但他仍然沒有放棄希望，向記者宣稱「明年再來」。


　　印度國民教育採取十年制，即五年小學、三年初中和兩年高中或高職。因年年向考試委員會報到而為人戲稱「秀才」和「學者」的查蘭，三十八年來參加的考試，一直是十年級的畢業考試。


　　在位於新德里南方約一百公里的拉吉斯坦省小鎮貝羅爾住家，查蘭信誓旦旦重申說：「為了娶妻，在有生之年，我會不斷參加考試，直到及格為止。」


　　成績揭曉，查蘭各科成績除了印地語及格之外，其他如英語、科學、數學和梵文成績全部不及格。他尤其抱怨數學成績僅五分，是他最頭痛的科目。


　　曾經有人建議他不妨向空中學校委員會申請比敘高中畢業資格，早點結婚算了。但他斷然駁斥表示，寧死也不會那樣做，因為既然立下了什麼樣的誓言，就應該遵守什麼樣的承諾。


　　一九六九年首次參加高中畢業考試的查蘭，對至今連續三十八年參加同樣的考試，毫無怨言。他說：「通過考試和結婚一樣，只有辛苦獲得才會更有價值。」


　　不過，他對考場監察員的怨言顯然頗多。他表示，有好幾次考場監察員以為他是考生家長，不聽信他的解釋，硬把他轟出教室。


　　此外，就是這幾年，由於考試出了名，每次他進入考場，就有一大堆人圍攏過來，看他就像老怪物一樣。


　　至於，「如果」通過考試，他準備娶什麼樣的女子為妻。已經有點重聽且舉步緩慢的查蘭，也是一成不變地重申過去說過的條件，即「老婆必須是三十歲以下的女性」。


　　儘管已經無法再下田工作，但表現不服老的查蘭強調說，自己仍然活力充沛，不亞於年輕小伙子，至少還有信心參加明年的考試。


　　不過，鄰里朋友倒是擔心他是否還能夠參加明年的考試。鄰居藍波拉薩德說：「我們還是會祝福他能通過考試，畢竟老天考驗他也太久了，應該讓幸福之神對他笑一笑。」970702
