知名國際組織Stop TB Partnership（終止結核夥伴）結合世界各國力量，積極推動全球結核病防治2006～2015計畫「The Global Plan To Stop TB 2006-2015」，為與國際接軌，衛生署疾病管制局亦同時提出國內「結核病十年減半全民動員計畫」，並於今年七月奉行政院核定實施，展現政府積極防疫作為。

「結核病十年減半全民動員計畫」總經費達170億元，主要目標是希望將目前的結核病發生率66.7人／10萬人，在2015年（10年後），有效下降至34人／10萬人口。

根據世界衛生組織的統計，全球約有900萬結核病新病人，約有200萬人死於結核病。台灣每年約新增15,000名結核病患，防治工作受到開放觀光、外勞引進、國際往來頻繁，以及病程潛伏期長，病人發現及管理不易、多重抗藥性、愛滋病併發結核病例數急遽增加等因素影響，面臨了高度挑戰。

有鑑於結核與愛滋病同為全球最重視之傳染病議題，結核病是透過空氣傳播，任何人都有可能被感染；衛生署疾管局去年即著手研擬「結核病十年減半全民動員計畫草案」，廣納專家學者建言，結合公衛、醫療、檢驗三大網絡，以發現病人（Find TB）、治療病人（Cure TB）為主要策略，並積極促進國際合作、研究發展，以及發動民間組織及政府相關部門共同參與結核病防治。

行政院衛生署特別是自今年起傳染病經費改列為公務預算支應，以及落實都治計畫，目前全國已進用260人擔任關懷員負責監督病患規則服藥（目前執行計1,365名個案），有效提供每一位結核病患醫療服務及品質。
