榮總婦癌名醫 遠走台東義診

記者李蕙君／攝影台北榮總醫院婦癌名醫莊其穆，被瑞士籍神父錫質平服務台東的故事感動，每月單周的周五請假，自費到台東義診，成為台東第一位婦癌專科醫師；三個月來，他發現台東人對婦癌認知缺乏，數名病患都是初診即確定罹癌第三期，他決定加長門診時間。
莊其穆去年讀了「海岸山脈的瑞士人」一書，得知錫質平神父半世紀前到台東，在沒有資源的情況下建教堂、辦學校、推醫療，罹癌還忍痛為台東人付出，他這輩子不知讀過多少書，很少這樣，看三次哭三次，因此決定步上錫神父的步伐，為台東付出。

「我可以來義診嗎？」莊其穆投書台東聖母醫院電子信箱，早上才寄信，中午就接到副院長陳良娟電話，從未到過台東的他，一到台東就愛上這裡的氣候、水果、步調，並展開每月第一、三、五周的周五下午義診行程。

莊其穆到台東義診，妻子憂心他路途遙遠，他仍然堅持前往，他查資料發現，台東這麼需要婦產科醫師，而且是婦癌專科醫師，他正好可以貢獻所長。

他說，台東每年會有卅例婦癌病患，比例偏高，但台東婦女對婦癌認知卻非常缺乏，多名婦女來初診就發現罹患子宮頸癌、子宮癌、卵巢癌第三期，長期忍受異常出血或下腹痛，他緊急把她們轉診台北大醫院手術，現在回他的台東門診追蹤。

「謝謝你救我一命！」昨天一名在台北術後返回台東的子宮癌第三期病患回診追蹤，送花給莊其穆，感謝救命之恩。

台東縣衛生局統計，台東子宮頸癌患者死亡率全台最高，就醫比率卻是全台最後一名。莊其穆說，未來他將加長門診時間至周六上午，還打算在台東辦講座、下鄉巡診。
