國人健康不平等 菸害是幫兇

健康城鄉差距 與菸害密切相關

台灣公共衛生促進協會理事長、成大公衛教授陳美霞發表「菸害與健康不平等的政經分析」指出，歷年吸菸率排行前五名的基隆市、花蓮縣、台東縣、桃園縣、台北縣（新北市），去年吸菸率仍高達台北市近兩倍，其居民罹患慢性阻塞性肺病、肺癌、冠狀動脈心臟病、口腔癌與喉癌等菸害相關疾病的死亡率明顯較高。

陳美霞指出，台灣每年有兩萬人死於菸害，以「多餘死亡指數」計算可發現，若時光倒流至二○○六到二○一○的五年間，且前述五縣市吸菸率只有台北市水準的話，可救回四千多條人命。以台東縣為例，死於口腔癌人數可減少六十六％、死於慢性阻塞性肺病人數可減五十四％、死於喉癌人數可減四十七％、死於肺癌人數可減十七％。
