''Europe’s first ever solar-powered train is being launched in Belgium.
The energy comes from 16,000 solar panels, installed on the roof of a rail tunnel running along an Antwerp motorway.
The panels produce enough electricity to power all of Belgium’s trains for one day per year.
A joint public-private partnership, the project is partly financed by Belgium’s rail network manager and is expected to prevent considerable carbon dioxide emissions
Italy already uses solar panels to power the air conditioning in some of its trains, and France is looking the do the same.''
