Good Health Linked to More Sexual Activity in Middle and Older Age
Middle- and older-age men and women who perceive themselves to be in very good health are more likely to be sexually active, reports BMJ.
Researchers analyzed interview data from two nationally representative samples comprising some 6000 U.S. adults aged 25 through 85. Among the other findings:
• Older men were more sexually active than older women — for example, among 57- to 64-year-olds, 84% of men versus 62% of women reported sexual activity.
• Among sexually active adults, better self-reported health also correlated with better-quality sex, greater interest in sex, and for men, higher frequency of sex.
