車前葉藍薊（學名：Echium plantagineum）是藍薊屬的一個物種，原產於歐洲西部和南部（從英國南部往南至到伊比利亞，往東至克里米亞）、非洲北部、和亞洲西南部（往東至喬治亞）。[1]該物種也被引入到澳洲和南非，是當地入侵植物。由於其嫩枝上的雙稠吡咯啶類生物鹼(Pyrrolizidine alkaloid)含量高，對於放牧的家畜有毒，尤其是馬等只有簡單消化系統的動物。毒素在肝臟沉積導致死亡。
這是一種一年生植物，可長至20-60厘米高，葉子至14厘米長，粗糙有毛。花為紫色，長15-20毫米，長在穗狀分枝上，所有的雄蕊凸出。[2] [3]

野藍薊（學名：Echium wildpretii）是一種兩年生的草本植物，可以生長達3米高。它們是西班牙特內里費島上的特有種，主要生長在泰德峰。它的俗名為寶石塔。[1]
