中山醫學大學上周突然針對口腔醫學系教室展開消毒，學生紛傳有傳染病發生，校內ＢＢＳ一陣恐慌，有學生表示，「有老師坦承有同學往生，因此得大規模消毒，但不是傳染病！」有的表示，「學校不說清楚，連疾管局的人都來了，好害怕！」

還有人搞笑演出直呼：「幽靈古堡、殭屍出籠，生人勿近！」中山醫學大學主任祕書王淳厚澄清說，學生真的太有想像力，「是有幾位學生一起感冒，所以才消毒，不是傳染病，別擔心。」
王淳厚說，起因於校內口腔醫學系有一名學生在五月初回台南家中後，突然病逝在成大醫院，同班同學上周也有兩、三人感冒，校方擔心是流行性感冒，加上教室又在地下室，空氣較不流通，上周針對幾間教室消毒，目前感冒學生都已痊癒，疾管局上禮拜也曾抽檢幾位學生，但報告還沒出爐。
中區疾管局指，原本通報醫院懷疑該大學生感染日本腦炎，但上周排除日本腦炎，目前傾向病毒性腦炎
