美國能源部長朱棣文建議，大家把房子粉刷成白色的，降低溫度，避免繼續暖化。


上星期，英國衛生部也建議把房子漆成白色的，減緩地球暖化的速度。朱棣文說，這種方法的效果跟禁止全球汽車上路11年一樣。他說，白屋頂可以把陽光反射回太陽，讓室內溫度降低，少開冷氣，減少用電量。他估計，白屋頂可以減少百分之十到十五的用電量。


他說，實際上只要淺色的屋頂都可以達到把陽光反射回太陽，降低室溫的效果。要是覺得白屋頂不好看，淒成比較冷的色調，效果也不錯。


為了減少能源消耗，朱棣文還建議，銀行審核房屋貸款的時候，拿用電、用瓦斯量當作核定債務人利率的參考。
