罕見開腦手術 男子邊閱讀邊動刀

接受動腦手術，還必須保持清醒，對於病人來講可能是一個很大的精神折磨，美國一名19歲的男子，因為腦部長腫瘤，影響到他的閱讀能力，醫生為了精準的切除影響腦部運作的腫瘤，要這名病患邊看書，邊接受腦部手術，以測試他的反應，終於成功完成這項難度很高的手術。


19歲的卡納，腦部長了腫瘤，不過要不是他和同學在餐廳點餐，讀不出菜單，恐怕還不知道自己身體出了狀況。病患卡納：「我感覺不太一樣，我沒辦法，我能閱讀，但幾乎什麼都不懂。」

原來靠近卡納左邊的腦部，掌管閱讀的部分長了腫瘤，阻礙他的理解能力。腦神經外科醫生柯翰蓋鐸：「他的腫瘤靠近，掌控閱讀和理解力的區域，為了能取出腫瘤，必須找出這個危險的位置。」

由於手術中必須測試卡納的反應，以免傷害他的腦神經，不得已，醫生只好讓卡納保持清醒開刀，動手術時只有局部麻醉。柯翰蓋鐸：「你還好嗎？」卡納：「還好。」

醫生採用精密的大腦地圖，找到精確位置，過程中也不時和卡納交談。柯翰蓋鐸：「卡納，你聽得到嗎？有感覺嗎？」

為了避免傷害掌管閱讀和理解的的腦神經，醫生測試卡納，如果一旦無法閱讀，就會避開這些脆弱的位置，手術進行5個鐘頭，病人已經筋疲力盡。柯翰蓋鐸：「沒有，他很合作、很有耐心，雖然在閱讀時候遇到困難。」

卡納手術很成功，不過他還需要一些時間，完全恢復正常的理解力，儘管這起案例在醫學界不是頭一遭，不過當事人果真勇氣十足，才讓手術得以順利進行。
