（中央社記者王怡文雪梨5日專電）澳洲醫療學會指出，公立醫院的候診病患太多，部分病患要等上2年才能看專科醫生，再等2年才能接受手術。
澳洲醫療學會主席歐勒（Brian Owler）指出，如果沒有私人醫療保險，不僅是等待接受手術，連一般孩童測試過敏源都要等上好幾年。
歐勒說，相關單位並未對解決這項問題有所作為，現在則必須開始考量並進行報告。
「雪梨晨驅報」（The Sydney Morning Herald）報導，「費爾法克斯媒體公司」（Fairfax Media）所掌握1封自利物浦醫院眼科發給病患的信中指出，由於高需求量和現有資源的考量，一般預約的候診時間需時2年半。
澳洲驗光師協會表示，一般病患需在家等待4年才可進行眼科手術。協會新南威爾斯和北領地執行長馬金農（Andrew McKinnon）說，就他所知，目前沒有病患可在2年內接受白內障手術，這些病患看不見東西也不能閱讀，而與社會產生疏離。
新南威爾斯衛生廳長史肯納（Jillian Skinner）批評聯邦政府政策刪減補助，導致眼科手術費用高昂，無力負擔的病患則湧向公立醫院，造成候診人數增加，降低醫療品質。
史肯納承諾，將在新州預算內選擇性增加手術補助，並加入全國計畫以解決候診時間過長的問題。1020605
